Membership is reviewed. A submitted request is not approval, and an approved request is followed by account activation.

Provide your professional details, membership category, intended contribution and relevant conflicts.
Confirmation
The registration page must confirm that the request was received. Keep the confirmation for your records.
Review
ODA3 reviews the request and may ask for more information. No membership status is implied during review.
Activate
After approval, follow the account activation email, then sign in to participate.

BuddyPress records your request for administrator review. Approval and account activation are separate steps. You should see a confirmation after submitting the request; if you do not, do not resubmit repeatedly.
